In, "The Story of My Life," by Helen Keller, we learn how Helen came to understand the meaning of love. On one occasion, Anne Sullivan, her teacher,
spelled into Helen's hand, "I love Helen." Not knowing what that meant, Helen asked, "What is love?" Miss Sullivan tried to explain but her attempts were unsuccessful. A few days later it was cloudy, and suddenly the sun shone through the sky. Feeling the warmth on her skin, Helen asked, "Is this not love?" Miss Sullivan replied, "Love is something like the clouds that were in the sky before the sun came out. You cannot touch the clouds, you know; but you feel the rain and know how glad the flowers and the thirsty earth are to have it after a hot day. You cannot touch love either; but you feel the sweetness that it pours into everything. Without love you would not be happy or want to play.”
Later Helen wrote, "Truth burst upon my mind...I felt that there were invisible lines stretched between my Spirit and the Spirits of others."
If love is the invisible line connecting us together, we have to wonder if we really love one another when so many walls exist that block loving connections. We all have the opportunity to overcome our fears of being loved and our fears of giving love. Doing so will help us to experience what Helen Keller felt when she described her vision of a truly loving connection—Spirit to Spirit. Love is a divine attribute. Without it, we are not happy or fulfilled.
Jasmine Oil is a fragrant essential oil with a sweet scent that has long been associated with romance because the jasmine flower blooms only at night. Jasmine oil is pleasing and emotionally elevating, and may stimulate the release of serotonin and other hormones, resulting in a surge of energy and a sense of overall wellbeing. Jasmine opens the heart and paves the way for improved intimacy for couples who have grown distant, and it makes it easier for those who are drawn together out of attraction to trust one another.
For this week's personal development, think of someone in your life who needs your love. Pick someone close to you ... maybe someone you've struggled to love ... and spend your week loving that person. If you’ve been one to put up walls, consider letting go of your fears, and bring those walls down. Allow another to love you!
